Below is an artistic statement from Aleta Anderson:

Color makes my soul sing. I love the vibrancy of the world around me and try to
create pieces to capture the joy and movement that I find invigorating in my
environment. I hope to provoke a moment of “wow”, a smile or even a laugh. I
enjoy finding the extraordinary in the ordinary world around me and will often
make pieces with “mundane” subjects such as snails, spiders and seagulls.

I have always appreciated the functionality of ceramics and I particularly like
architectural ceramics. While many of my pieces are purely decorative, I
especially enjoy the challenge of creating something functional that is also
beautiful. I believe when making items for every day use, I must ensure the item
succeeds in its purpose. It must feel natural to the hand and perform its function.
Beauty does not suffice if it does not function well.

I find furniture that has seen better days and then help it live life anew refinished
and as a vibrantly custom designed, tiled table. I make individual, highly textured
and vibrant tiles with mostly Pacific Northwest and animal themes. And I also have
a fun collection of mini hanging tiles, because I believe everyone deserves art.

While clay is my medium and tile work is my focus, color makes my soul sing. I love the
vibrancy of the world around me and try to create pieces to capture the joy and movement
that I find invigorating in my environment. Themes that weave through my work are
humor, movement, color and nature. I hope to provoke a moment of “wow”, a smile or
even a laugh.
